President
Phil Hursh
As the second generation owner, Phil is dedicated to preserving the company’s exceptional legacy of excellence and embodies its core values. Thanks to his steadfast guidance, Hursh Painting Company remains a thriving business that positively impacts both its customers and the wider community.
As President, Phil provides leadership to the entire team and brings Hursh’s mission and vision to life throughout the company. His journey began early, starting in the family business working part-time in the field at just 14 years of age. After graduating high school, Phil joined the company full-time, working in nearly every position until he became President in 1999. Phil’s extensive knowledge of the family business was passed down to him by his father and company founder, Morris.
Phil’s commitment to giving back extends beyond Hursh Painting. He is the treasurer of the West Earl Fire Company and serves on the board of CrossNet Ministries, making a meaningful impact in his community.
When he’s not working, Phil enjoys traveling and trying out new restaurants with his wife, Sandy. They are the proud parents of two young adults and reside in Brownstown. They attend Calvary Church in Lancaster.
Operations Manager
Tom Hartman
Tom has been an integral part of Hursh Painting’s team since 2015, bringing a wealth of experience to the table. With almost 20 years of experience as a plant manager for a construction material supplier and nine years working for another painting contractor, Tom possesses an impressive range of skills.
Initially joining the company as an Estimator, he was promoted to Operations Manager in 2021. His current role involves managing all field operations, scheduling crews, overseeing projects and collaborating with HR on employee development. Tom is passionate about helping employees set work goals and watching them succeed.
When he’s not at work, Tom is an avid baseball fan and enjoys coaching young athletes to develop their skills. Tom and his wife, Kendra, reside in Lancaster and have one adult daughter.
Safety Director & Project Manager
Rod Baer
In 1993, Rod began his career at Hursh Painting Company as a Painter and steadily progressed through the organization to become a Foreman. In 2021, he was promoted to the position of Project Manager and Safety Director. His extensive experience in the field has solidified his position as a highly respected leader within our organization and has allowed him to have an excellent relationship with our customers, vendors and specialty contractors.
As Safety Director, Rod is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s health and safety program. His role involves leading the state-certified safety committee, ensuring our employees’ compliance with OSHA regulations, and providing safety training to our team members. Additionally, Rod serves as a Project Manager, ensuring that all projects are completed on time and to the highest standard of quality.
Outside of work, Rod enjoys spending quality time with his family and playing golf. He and his wife, Dalena attend Lancaster Evangelical Free Church. They are embracing their new stage in life as empty nesters and new grandparents.
Estimator
Brian Fisher
Brian joined the Hursh Painting estimating team in 2021 with an impressive background in the painting industry. As a third-generation painter, he has previously owned and operated his own painting business. Prior to that, he worked as a salesman for various paint manufacturers, including serving as a National Accounts Manager at Duron Paints. These experiences have provided him with a deep understanding of the industry.
Brian’s commitment to the industry is also evident in his involvement as a member of the Workforce Development Committee at ABC Keystone.
Brian lives in Lititz with his wife, Vicky. In his spare time, he enjoys working in the yard and spending time with his family, which includes four grandchildren.
Estimator
Zack Graham
Since joining the Hursh Painting team in 2006, Zack has proven to be a valuable addition. Starting out as an Apprentice Painter, he quickly progressed to the role of Painter and eventually became a Foreman. In 2021, he took on a new challenge by joining the estimating team, where he has thrived and excelled.
Zack’s vast experience in the field is one of his greatest assets, as it allows him to evaluate project requirements with precision. Drawing upon his knowledge of various products, surfaces and application techniques, he can provide accurate cost estimates. In addition, his expertise in wallcovering installation makes him an indispensable troubleshooter for our wallcovering installers. In the technology department, Zack spearheaded the implementation of our new computer estimating software and is continually refining and enhancing our estimating processes.
Outside of work, Zack enjoys playing golf and traveling with his wife, Michelle. They share their home with two dogs and a pet pig.
Office Manager
Julie Heitz
Julie joined the Hursh Painting team in 2006 and has more than 17 years of experience in the painting industry as an office professional. Her extensive knowledge in human resources, accounting, and management systems has made her an invaluable asset to the team.
As the leader of the office support team, Julie values strong relationships with colleagues, customers, and the community. She is a team player who embodies the company’s core values and represents them well.
When she’s not in the office, Julie likes to spend time with her family and friends. She also enjoys reading and engaging in new experiences.
